It wasn't tap water that sickened seven children last week at kindergarten no.2 in Chisinau's suburban town of Durlesti, according to an investigation by the Public Health Center, which also found that the kindergarten was working in insalubrious conditions and without a sanitary certificate, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Earlier, the kindergarten's director Elena Oancea partially acknowledged responsibility when several children developed infectious diarrhea throughout last week, but also accused the city's water utility Apa-Canal for improperly handling a pipe repair in the neighborhood.
The Public Health Center said it would fine the director, without specifying for how much. Meanwhile, the kindergarten that serves 400 children will stay closed for an undetermined period.
The water utility said in a press release that all the samples taken after the pipe repair in question met all standards and didn't contain microflora, and that the water was safe to drink. A lab test repeated after the incident produced the same results, according to the utility.
