EAC offers 50 scholarships for the best students

The Educational Advising Center (EAC) offers 50 yearly scholarships of 12,000 lei for the best students in the country. The 17th edition of the Merit Scholarships contest was opened on Thursday with a press conference, Info-Prim Neo reports. The contest is open for full time bachelor and master’s degree students (graduating year 2013) regardless of specialization with minimum average grades of 9 for humanities and social sciences, 8.5 for exact, technical and medical-biological sciences and 8 for students with disabilities or orphans. EAC director Angela Muset said that undergraduate students in the last year of study will get 35 scholarships and MA students in the first year of study will get 15 scholarships. The contest has two selection stages, based on the application files and on interviews in a foreign language. The accepted applications will be examined by the Council of Experts and by the Council of Donors. The results will be announced on December 12. The ceremony of awarding the scholarships will take place in December. Deputy chairman of the Moldova Agroindbank board Marcel Teleuca said that the bank was the oldest partner of the “Merit Scholarships” Program, since 12 years ago. “In years, we acknowledged its viability, as the program managed to create new partnerships and to harness new resources, while respecting the principles of transparency and equity. We salute and support this noble action, which contributes to the construction of a promising future for gifted youth by helping them to make the most of their talents in their fields”, said Marcel Teleuca. PR and Sponsorship manager at Orange Moldova, Victoria Musteata, declared that the contest had become a beautiful tradition for the company and for the other partners of the project and for the students of all the higher education institutions in Moldova. “It’s the most awaited yearly scholarship contest in the country. We hope that this year the number of applicants for merit scholarships will grow and I encourage all the students to apply because we offer equal chances of participation and victory for everyone”, said Victoria Musteata. Those interested can get the application form at the headquarters of the Educational Advising Center or at www.eac.md. The contest is organized under the patronage of the Council of Rectors of Moldova with the financial support of Moldova Agroindbank and of Orange Moldova. The first edition took place in 1996.
