Chisinau airport more crowded than Iasi airport
The Chisinau airport outstrips the Iasi airport in terms of the number of passengers, IPN reports, with reference to topiași.ro. The airport in Chisinau last month was transited by over 500,000 passengers, while the one in Iasi by 221,000, by 11.4% less than in August 2023.
Pre-financing agreement to extend Mircea cel Bătrân Blvd signed with EBRD
Mircea cel Bătrân Blvd in Chisinau will be extended up to Bucovinei St, while Industrială and Mesager streets will be rehabilitated. The Chisinau City Hall announced that this will be possible thanks to the Pre-financing Agreement signed by the municipality with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Work on National Financial Inclusion Strategy underway
The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) and the World Bank have launched discussions on the future National Financial Inclusion Strategy. The first meeting of the working group was held at the NBM with the aim of laying the foundations for the implementation of an efficient and inclusive strategy.
27 letters from Minister Bolea. Moldova asks EU for support for farmers
Twenty-seven official letters addressed to the 27 agriculture ministers of the European Union, the U.S. Canada, Japan, and Norway, in which Moldova asks for support for the establishment of a Development and Solidarity Fund for Moldovan agriculture, were signed by Minister Vladimir Bolea.

Farmers stop protests until October 10. What Maia Sandu promised them
President Maia Sandu will discuss with the Parliament and the Government in order to establish a new dialogue with farmers so as to identify solutions by common agreement, taking into account the requests of the grain sector, input suppliers and the budgetary capacities of the state. The decision was taken after discussions with representatives of several associations of cereal producers from different regions of the country and with representatives of some suppliers of inputs for the agricultural sector.

Transactions of almost 80m lei within first issuance on eVMS.md
The subscription period for the first issue of State Securities through eVMS.md platform is over. During ten days, 815 direct transactions to the value of 78.7 million lei were registered. According to the Ministry of Finance, the people who invested in two-year government bonds benefit from a competitive interest rate of 6 percent and are exempt from the tax on the profit obtained from these investments.
State Tax Service enumerates main changes to 2024 fiscal policy
The gross income does not include the income obtained from the sale of electricity by resident individuals who produce renewable energy and to whom the net metering/net billing mechanism applies. This is one of the amendments made to the budgetary-fiscal and customs policy that entered into force on August 15.
In a press release, the State Tax Service said that also from August 15, the income that individuals obtain from providing ferrous and non-ferrous metal waste, industrial residues containing metals or their alloys is taxed through the deduction of an income tax rate of 12% at the source of payment by the economic agent.
Moldovans ate more meat, less veggies last year
Last year, Moldovans consumed an average of 130 kg of fruits, berries and nuts, or by 7% more than in the previous year. Meat consumption also increased by 7%, from 60.8 kg to 65.2 kg per capita. Milk consumption rose by 3% to 173.8 kg, the National Bureau of Statistics reported.
Meanwhile, the consumption of vegetables dropped by 3%. On average, a person consumed 114.7 kg of vegetables last year, compared to 118.7 kg a year earlier.

European financing for transport projects
The European Commission is making available €2.5 billion for projects to modernize the transport infrastructure on the EU’s trans-European transport network (TEN-T), as well as in Ukraine and Moldova, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the Commission, published by EU NeighboursEast.
IMF mission to visit Moldova
An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission led by Alina Iancu will visit Chișinău during October 1-11, 2024. The primary purpose of the mission is to take stock of the recent economic developments, assess the macroeconomic outlook and risks, and follow up on the implementation of program commitments.

Global demographic processes have essentially affected the way people lead a comfortable life after reaching retirement age. Currently, states cannot guarantee a pension that ensures a decent income for the elderly. So, life insurance and private pensions are a solution for a peaceful life. Contribution periods aggregated when determining pension of Moldovans employed in Italy
When determining the pension or other benefits, the years worked in Moldova and Italy could be recognized and aggregated, regardless of the country in which the person worked. Thus, the citizens could benefit from old-age pensions, disability pensions, disability allowances and survivors’ pensions, taking into account the periods worked in both states. The responsible ministers of the two states discussed the extension of the Social Security Agreement.

EU is considering providing emergency aid to Moldovan farmers
