Moldova does not face the danger of the supply of Russian gas being interrupted, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said in the program “Replica” on Prime TV channel, IPN reports.

According to Lazar, the supply of natural gas to Moldova was ensured legally by signing bilateral contracts with the Russian Federation. If the supply is halted, Moldova will be able to seek damages from Russia through court.

The minister of economy said that Moldova pays well for the consumed gas, the debts to “Gazprom” being 90% settled.

During the visit that he made to Kiev, Valeriu Lazar was assured by Ukrainian officials that if Ukraine refuses to import Russian gas owing to the exaggerated prices, it will not give up transporting natural gas from Russia to Europe.

Besides, Moldova will be able to buy natural gas from Romania, from the reservoir situated near Cernauti.

Valeriu Lazar also said that the prices of natural gas and electricity will not be raised this year as Moldova obtained 10% reductions, which will cover the depreciation of the Moldovan leu.
