Edelweiss Foundation donates 2.2 million lei worth of aid to flood victims

The Edelweiss Foundation has donated aid valued at over 2.2 million lei over the past several days to people affected by floods in Hancesti district. Three families received homes in a key presentation officiated by Edelweiss founder Vlad Plahotniuc. Additionally, the families received goods needed for a decent living, including furniture, home appliances, parcels of land and domestic animals, the Foundation's PR department said in a press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “The social responsibility of a businessman or a company should not be limited to paying salaries and taxes. Often it is much more important to react promptly to the suffering of people by offering some aid that would normalize, or even change their lives for the better”, said Vlad Plahotniuc. “My carpets were still wet when I was contacted by Edelweiss representatives and was asked if my family wouldn't like to move into a new home in two days. For some moments I was speechless. I can't describe the feelings of someone who loses everything in half an hour, including the faith in the day of tomorrow, and then, in a moment, obtains the opportunity to start a new life”, said Galina Brinza, the recipient of one of the homes. “The actions of the Edelweiss Foundation don't stop here. Each week we receive appeals for help, from emergency surgeries to the restoration of homes and kindergartens. It's impossible to help all, but we think that each businessman or private company has the capacity to follow a good example and help the neighbor”, said Vlad Plahotniuc during meetings with the people in the affected villages. The Edelweiss Foundation is a non-governmental, nonprofit and apolitical organization founded by businessman Vlad Plahotniuc to create equitable opportunities for talented and disadvantaged people in Moldova.
