A factory for making electronic wire harnesses for the automotive industry will be erected in Orhei district. The project belongs to Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze AG (SEBN), which founded the daughter company Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze SRL for the purpose, and is implemented within the subzone Free Economic Zone “Balti” in Orhei district. The factory will employ about 2,500 people.
In a news conference at IPN, Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze SRL production director Jerzy Laluk, who is a Polish citizen, said he accepted the post because he likes the countries of Eastern Europe. As to the project, Jerzy Laluk noted that they will use the rich experience and know-how of the SEBN factories working in other states.
SE Bordnetze SRL financial director Igor Corman said the SEBN project is one of the most important of those implemented now in Moldova. This will bring important benefits for investors and for the central region of the country.
Deputy mayor of Orhei town Viorel Dandara said the investment made by Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze is very important for Orhei given that there will be created over 2,500 jobs for the people from the town and its neighborhood. Also, the company will pay taxes into the local and central budgets and the infrastructure will be developed.
For his part, SEBN director general Kenichi Urushibata said his company started to work with 1,000 employees. “We are the main supplier of such wire harnesses and have a market share of 40%,” stated Kenichi Urushibata. As regards the factory that is to be opened in Orhei, the director said this should be as good as the others of the network.
SEBN financial director Minoru Fujitsuka said the company has a very good sales, logistics and production position in the sector. According to him, the daughter company will benefit from assistance in implementing the project in Orhei.
Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze AG is a global supplier of electronic wire harnesses and components for the international automotive industry, which currently employs more than 31,000 people in 15 countries.
