Eleven persons arrested for document forgery and influence peddling

Anticorruption officers arrested 11 persons who are suspected of forging diplomas, Italian and Romanian passports, driver’s licenses and recruit permits. They asked for several hundreds to several thousands of euros for their services, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC). Those arrested include an employee of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, an employee of the Ministry of the Interior, a publishing house administrator and eight persons out of work. During 32 searches, the Center’s officers found forms of civil registry offices, international driver’s licenses, stamps, about 500 transparent films for making documents, diplomas of different education institutions, over 100 Romanian identity cards, etc. A series of criminal cases were started over influence peddling, passive corruption and use of forged official documents, prints and stamps. The investigation is conducted by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. The persons are held at the remand unit of the CCCEC.
