The emergencies that could appear following the recent severe frost will be avoided, it was said at the Government's working meeting on January 22. The meeting centered on the measures that must be taken to cope with the low temperatures forecast for the next days, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the name of Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Minister of State Victor Bodiu instructed the officials in charge to ensure the good functioning of the state institutions so as to avoid possible consequences of the very cold weather. The officials said the stocks of fuel are enough to supply the state institutions and housing sector with heat and the relevant institutions are ready to intervene in emergency cases. The Ministry of Economy will take measures to ensure efficient cooperation between the electric power suppliers so as to prevent power outages and the continuous supply of natural gas. The Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure will take steps to make sure that the national roads are passable and there are no traffic-related problems. The Ministry of Education will supervise the education process in kindergartens, schools and universities, while the Ministry of Health in concert with the local authorities will take measures to ensure the smother running of the hospitals and other medical institutions. The Ministry of the Interior will organize the work of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service and will place it on alert so that it could intervene quickly when need be. Special rooms will be set up to accommodate homeless persons. The motorists are advised to avoid long trips.
