Forty-one new type-B ambulances were distributed today to Pre-Hospital Emergency Assistance substations and units. Manufactured in 2024, the vehicles feature state-of-the-art equipment and meet international standards. The authorities say the new ambulances will increase the efficiency and access of the population throughout the country to pre-hospital emergency care.
During a ceremony showcasing the new ambulances, Iurie Crasiuc, deputy director of the National Center for Pre-Hospital Emergency Assistance, said that the performance of emergency care is determined not only by the professionalism of the teams, but also by their equipment. “It is important for the success of the intervention that the ambulances are modern and properly equipped with the necessary medical devices. The purchase of ambulances with the support of the Ministry of Health is another step towards a better future, with new opportunities and perspectives for society. In this context, we will attract young specialists who choose to dedicate themselves to the field of emergency medicine”, said Iurie Crasiuc.
Minister of Health, Ala Nemerenco, said that the fleet of ambulances is in constant need of renewal, because “an ambulance has no rest and is constantly on the move”, and the degree of wear and tear is increasing rapidly. “In just a little over two years, your fleet has been completely renewed with 184 ambulances, from different sources of funding. These 41 ambulances distributed today have a total cost of 3.5 million euros, out of a batch of 62 ambulances purchased by the Ministry of Health”, said the minister.
Attending the event, Prime Minister Dorin Recean declared that the health care system has seen investments of over three billion lei in recent years, and the effort to ensure the highest quality medical services will continue. “We have excellent professionals and we will equip the medical system head to tail, so that we can save every life, whether it’s Chisinau, the north or the south”.
The ambulances were purchased with the support of the Council of Europe Development Bank. The remaining 21 ambulances of the batch are expected to arrive in October.
