The NGOs Business Consulting Institute and ProRural Invest are launching the project “Encouragement of Innovatory Use of Remittances in Productive Rural Investment”. The project will cover 12 districts from central Moldova and aims to develop the entrepreneurial capacities of the emigrants who return home and of the recipients of remittances so as to increase the investments, the head of ProRural Invest Viorel Gherciu told a news conference on July 21, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “We will supply the people with units of transport, help them register the companies and offer assistance in starting a business,” Viorel Gherciu said. Within the project, the local public administration and the persons who will come home from abroad will be familiarized with the opportunities of setting up businesses and creating new workplaces. “There will be created an estimated 250 workplaces,” said Viorel Roscovan, expert of Business Consulting Institute. Vadim Sava, who had worked for many years abroad, said he is glad that the Moldovans who return home will have the possibility of investing the earned money in profitable businesses. Valentina Veverita, the head of the Economy Ministry's SME Sector Development Division, stressed that this project is part of the Government's initiatives aimed at strengthening the economy and developing the small and medium-sized businesses. The International Fund for Agricultural Development contributed US$309,000 to the project. The local contribution is US$63,000. The project implementation period is July 2010 – June 2012. The potential beneficiaries can obtain information at the local mayors' offices.
