An employee of the Leova District Hospital is investigated for allegedly receiving illicit funds from patients, without passing them through the institution’s cash register. About €6,500 and 27,000 lei were seized as a result of searches, IPN reports, quoting the National Anticorruption Center.
The suspect, intentionally using his position and professional duties, acting out of material interest, systematically collected various amounts of money from patients for his services, without registering them officially. Thus, considerable damage was caused to the budget of the Leova District Hospital. A number of cases of asking for and receiving money were reported.
The money, registers and information carriers seized during searches at the suspect’s home and office are yet to be examined.
The healthcare worker wasn’t remanded in custody.
