Employees of the Chisinau-based company Segment Sistem Construct SRL staged a protest near the National Center for Children and Youth “Artico” on Friday and demanded 4.740 million lei for the works they carried out a year ago, Info-Prim Neo reports. As “Artico” did not fulfill its contractual obligations, Segment Sistem Construct went bankrupt and its property was sequestrated. The employees remained without jobs and cannot maintain their families. “After the contract was signed in June 2008, we received an advance to start the construction. Afterward, we saw no more money. Seventy-five persons remained out of work. We took the building materials from other economic entities and promised to pay for them later. But the debts accumulated and we were sued,” said the company's director Oleg Istrati. The company Cardinal Plus, which carried out the internal works at the Center, faces the same problems. The company's director Eugen Li-Sui-Cean said the works have not been finished because they did not receive all the money. “We carried out works to the value of 14 million lei, but were paid only 13 million lei. 7 million lei more is needed to completed the works. Nobody thought about the dangers to which the children are now exposed as the Center is not finished,” said Eugen Li-Sui-Cean. “I worked four months for the company, but received no money . I have children to feed. We built this Center for children, but nobody thought of my children.” said Alexandru, a worker from Chisinau. “I came from Sangerei to work in Chisinau. I worked three months, but wasn't remunerated,” said another worker. The protesters said they filed many applications, knocked at many doors, but nobody helped them. They are determined to continue demanding justice, including by protests in front of the Government.
