The European Union is hopeful that Ukraine will modify its decision as regards the signing of the Association Agreement until the Riga Eastern Partnership Summit of 2015, said Dalia Grybauskaitè the President of Lithuania, which now holds the EU presidency, IPN reports, quoting Interfax-Ukraine Agency.

At the Summit in Vilnius, Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovich said the Association Agreement with the EU may be signed in exchange for financial assistance from the EU as the preparations for the signature were suspended because the Ukrainian economy is not ready to open the market for European products.

The EU does not agree to change the conditions for signing the agreement. However, Victor Yanukovich said that Ukraine and the European Commission agreed to return to the discussions on the signing of the agreement in the near future as this document remains a priority for the Ukrainians.

The protests in Ukraine against the decision to suspend the process for preparing for the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU continue. The opposition announced that a decision as regard the further actions will be taken on December 1. It also intends to initiate the giving of a vote of no confidence to President Victor Yanukovich.
