Europe comes to Chisinau

The persons traveling along the Chisinau bus route No. 3 will be able today to go by an Infobus free of charge. The info-tour was organized by the Chisinau City Hall with the aim of disseminating information about the Council of Europe. The “Europe is more than you think” campaign forms part of the activities planned for the Europe Days in Chisinau that will be marked during May 5 – 15, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the head of the City Hall's Foreign Relations, Regional Cooperation and European Integration Division Gabriela Ciumac, the passengers will receive leaflets about the campaigns, the priorities and principles of the Council of Europe. The quoted source said the embassies of the European states, the civil society and the associations of different ethnic groups have participated in the organization of the Europe Days in Chisinau. A number of activities have been planned, including the Polish Spring, art exhibitions, concerts, fairs of objects made by children from orphanages, screening of movies about the Council of Europe, seminars with education institution heads and teachers, where there will be provided teaching kits. A Forum of Mayors will be held on May 14. Mayors from the Transnistrian region have been also invited to the event. The mayor of Chisinau and municipal specialists will present information about how the pubic money is used, how the services and the communication with the people can be improved, etc. The Europe Days in Chisinau will end on May 15 with a large-scale event in downtown, where the European embassies working in Chisinau will put up by a tent and display traditional objects and dishes of their countries. There will be staged concerts. The European languages school will give lessons, while members of the diplomatic corpse will hold public debates. The children's choir “Lacrimoza” will give a concert. A performance of music will take place in the evening, starting at 19.30. The Europe Days in Chisinau are organized by the Chisinau City Hall and the Council of Europe Office in Moldova.
