Different activities dedicated to the European Heritage Days 2017 will be staged inside urban natural sites, historical public gardens, natural reserves, national parks and protected areas during ten days, on September 18-28. The activities will center on the protection and enhancement of historical monuments, archeological sites, artwork collections, traditional handicrafts, natural landscapes and others, IPN reports.
Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc told a news conference that the event’s theme this year is “Cultural heritage and nature: landscape of possibilities”. This theme emphasizes the picturesque places and landscapes and encourages the participation by society in the protection and safeguarding of the cultural and natural heritage.
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, both the institutions managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research and those managed by the local public authorities will organize various events. Eugen Doga will hold three concerts, at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Church in Causeni town, the Soroca Fortress and the Historical-Architectural Complex “Manuc Bey” in Hancesti town, in connection with his 80th birthday.
In a move to promote, conserve and enhance the cultural and natural heritage of Moldova, the competent institutions, district cultural divisions and museums will mount photo and color plates exhibitions and will organize guided trips to monuments of national or local importance, such as parks, caves, museums, memorial homes, churches, natural reserves and libraries.
The European Heritage Days have been celebrated annually since 1999, on the initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Union. Events dedicated to the European Heritage Days are staged in about 50 countries.
