The Committee of Parliamentary Cooperation EU-Moldova (CPC EU-RM) recommends authorities in Chisinau to make every effort to ensure long-term stability and encourage political dialogue in order to overcome the constitutional crisis and avoiding early parliamentary elections. The recommendations were formulated at the 13th meeting of the Committee which took place recently in Brussels, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Moldovan delegation was headed by Liberal MP Corina Fusu. She told a subsequent news conference that the final statement of the CPC EU-RM highlighted the crucial importance of the reforms initiated for Moldova’s democratic development and European integration.
“European officials salute the stable pace of negotiations on the Association Agreement between the EU and Moldova, as well as the expeditious approval of an Action Plan on implementing the European Commission recommendations. Moreover, they want the European Commission and Moldovan authorities to start negotiations regarding the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area until the end of 2011, prompting the EU institutions to offer Moldova financial assistance in this regard”, said Corina Fusu.
According to her, the main issues discussed at the gathering were the current state of cooperation between the EU and Moldova, the implementation of previous recommendations, the developments in promoting social, economic and political reforms, the progress of the judiciary reform, prospects of settling the Transnistrian conflict, regional cooperation and others.
The Committee of Parliamentary Cooperation EU-Moldova meets once a year and is the forum that has parliamentary control over the implementation of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement signed by the European Parliament and the Moldovan legislative. The 13th meeting took place in Brussels, June 15 and 16. The Moldovan delegation included MPs Ghenadie Ciobanu, Ina Supac, Andrian Candu, Boris Vieru, Nae-Simion Plesca and was headed by Corina Fusu.
