A former mayor of Nisporeni town and an accomplice of this were arrested on suspicion that they swindled a resident of Nisporeni district out of a large sum of money, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in May 2013 – January 2014 the suspect, holding the post of mayor and acting in collusion with a civilian, illegally obtained €70,000 from a person for helping this purchase a number of plots. The victim ultimately didn’t come into passion of the plots for which this paid the money.
The ex-mayor and his accomplice were remanded in custody for 72 hours. These are liable to 8 to 15 years behind bars for swindle.
