Among the main obstacles to organizing a vacation in Moldova are the exaggerated prices and lack of knowledge of the places that can be visited, says a study carried out by Magenta Consulting on a sample of 2,109 respondents aged between 25 and 55, IPN reports.

Among other obstacles are the lack of activities or infrastructure for families with children, poor accommodation conditions, lack of activities in the visited tourist places, lack of places where to have a meal or poor service in tourist accommodation facilities. 33% of the respondents who do not have a car in the household said it is hard to organize a vacation in Moldova in the absence of a vehicle.

According to the study, the Moldovans in general like to visit sights in Moldova (71%). Two in three Moldovans prefer active rest, while one third prefer passive rest. 48% of the Moldovans organize vacations individually and do not interact with travel agencies. Among Internet users and the diaspora, the figure is higher.

79% of those polled are interested in using a brochure or an application that would contain a list of trips, where each trip would last for one-three days, and recommendations of activities, sights and prices. Half of the respondents are ready to pay more than 1,000 lei a day for a vacation in Moldova: 1,000 lei – a reasonable price, 1,500 lei – a higher price that they would not refuse to pay.

Tourists’ main expectations of a vacation abroad or in the country include visits to relatives or family, discovery of traditions, places, arts, dishes and experiences that reflect the diversity and character of people, trips to nature. Fewer tourists would travel to visit music festivals or musical events, to integrate into rural areas, to use local products and to experience rural life.
