Executive discuses emergency loan with EU

The Government is discussing an emergency loan with the European Union. The money will be used to support the business community (300m lei), to pay unemployment benefit (168m lei) and to increase the social support fund (200m lei), IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the National Employment Agency will receive an extra 10 million lei for organizing programs designed to increase the employment possibilities of those out of work.

The Cabinet also negotiated a loan of US$ 58.4 million with the World Bank. A sum of US$ 33 million will go to the healthcare sector and will be used to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, while US$ 24 million will go to increase the unemployment fund and to cover other social costs.

The Council of Europe Development Bank will offer Moldova a loan of €70 million, €30 million of which will be used to support the SMEs, while €40 will go to the healthcare sector (by €20m in 2020 and in 2021).
