Forty pictures taken by young people from six states were displayed at the Museum of History of the City of Chisinau – Water Tower. The exhibit entitled “Heritage of Europe is Common Heritage” was mounted by the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration in Chisinau on March 2, on the occasion of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, which was instituted by the European Parliament, IPN reports.

According to the Agency’s director general Ion Stefanita, the photos showing cultural heritage sites were taken by young people from the UK, France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, and Moldova. The young people from Moldova presented pictures of the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy, church sights, the Water Tower and the cellars of Cricova and Milestii Mici.

“The underground Moldova or the underground cellars of Milestii Mici, Cricova and other places are actually a Chinese wall of the Republic of Moldova. By the economic value of this heritage, we can develop the city and this country,” stated Ion Stefanita.

The director general of the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration noted he would like this year to arouse especially the young people’s interest in the cultural heritage so that they keep and pass it on to the next generations. “We should not allow our cultural heritage to be damaged and destroyed. That’s why in 2018 we are looking for methods to celebrate and conserve it,” said Ion Stefanita.

The exhibition will last until April 18, when a new exhibit on the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites will be mounted instead.
