The main threats to Moldova’s security come from Russia, said experts invited to the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Ex-MP Mihai Godea, who heads the Democratic Action Party, said the danger to security does not come from the ethnic minorities, as it is asserted. “We cannot accuse our citizens of another ethnicity of posing a threat to security. I see that the relations between Comrat and Chisinau improved. Moreover, the visit by the Governor of Gagauzia to Bucharest points to many things. Several years ago, this thing was unimaginable. I want to note that the Gagauz minority is the most peaceful minority in Romania,” he stated.

Ion Leahu, former member of the Joint Control Commission, considers the threats derive from the imperialist tendencies of Russia. “Even if everybody focuses on the terrorist threats coming from the Islamic State, Moscow didn’t give up its project Novorossia. It seems that Moldova is the main target of this project,” he said.

Media analyst Cristian Tabara said Russia’s military intervention in the Islamic State gives a pause to Moldova to strengthen its security. “If we consider the technique employed by Russia in relation to the Islamic State, I think the major financial resources will be allocated there. In Moldova, Moscow will provide only small funds intended for dissatisfied persons with separatist aspirations who are anytime ready to destabilize the situation,” he stated.
