An explosion happened on Wednesday evening at 22.08 in the Great National Assembly Square, where thousands of people came to take part in the festivities held to mark the Day of the City. Ludmila Untura, coordinating doctor at the Chisinau Emergency Hospital, has told Info-Prim Neo that the ambulance was called at 22.09. The explosion occurred 20 meters of the God's Birth Cathedral. The ambulance teams gathered the injured persons, who, while in shock, ran away from the scene, scattering in different directions, including on Pushkin and Banulescu-Bodoni streets. Initially, the ambulances transported 25 persons to the Emergency Hospital, two minors to Valentin Ignatenco Hospital and four persons with burns on the eyes to Saint Trinity Hospital. Most of these persons received multiple injuries on the hands and legs. Fortunately, there was no casualty. At first, the police suspected an explosion of a gas or hydrogen cylinder, but the injuries sustained by the persons showed it could be a RGD grenade. The deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, the administration of the Buiucani police commissariat, the best sappers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the bomb squad are on the scene. They hope to identify soon the person who caused the explosion. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, MP Mihai Moldovan and other officials went to the Emergency Hospital at night. Thirty-seven persons suffered different injuries overall. A 20-year-old woman was operated on. The explosion happened during the recital given by the Romanian singer Stefan Banica Junior. In order not to cause panic among the over 100 thousand people present in the Great National Assembly Square, it was decided to continue the concert. However, it finished 30-40 minutes earlier.
