The population’s exposure to electromagnetic fields, with the frequency from 0 Hz to 300 GHz, will be limited through Health Regulations. The document includes recommendations for designing homes and workplaces to minimize exposure to EMFs and protect public health. Such practices as moderate use of mobile devices to reduce personal exposure are also listed. The regulations were endorsed by the Cabinet on Wednesday, IPN reports.

This is the first document that will regulate the field, in order to reduce the associated risks and protect vulnerable groups, such as children and people with medical conditions. The provisions of the regulations are mandatory in the design, construction, installation of radiocommunication stations and also in their reconstruction, reinstallation and modernization. The document will not be applied to electromagnetic fields emitted by diagnostic and treatment equipment.

The National Public Health Agency and the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology will be responsible for implementing the new provisions that will contribute to the creation of safer and more energy-efficient devices and to the promotion of research in the field of technologies to reduce EMF emissions.
