The political parties that do not form part of the government and civil society must join efforts. Also, the extraparliamentary parties should not argue between them, but should cooperate. Such conclusions were formulated in a civic forum staged by the Great National Assembly Council, which involved representatives of a series of NGOs The participants in the event said the Republic of Moldova is a captured state governed by oligarchic elite, IPN reports.

Transparency International Moldova executive director Lilia Carasciuc said democracy in Moldova is now in question. “If we work together, we can achieve results. Everything was done for this society to be divided and our souls to be destroyed. I urge unity. We should now leave our sympathies aside and defend democracy in our country,” she stated.

Journalist Natalia Morari noted that time has come for everyone to forget about vainglory. “The emerging alternative forces should not come into conflict with each other. If early parliamentary elections do not take place by autumn, I think all the remaining islands of freedom will disappear in three years. All the alternative forces will be jailed or will be pressed,” she said.

According to political analyst Nicolae Chirtoaca, the Governments that ruled during the last few years didn’t have a well-defined work program and goal. “The Republic of Moldova witnesses the final stage of strengthening of the oligarchic system that destroys the state. I think the civic and protest movement remains an expression of the spirit of responsibility of civil society. An oligarchic system is built where the largest part of society is passive. Moldova can be awakened by civil society,” stated the analyst.

The civic forum involved experts from different fields, representatives of NGOs, journalists and former government officials.
