The reported case of H1N1 swine flu in Moldova has not been confirmed. A child was taken to the Municipal Children’s Infectious Diseases Hospital No.1 in Chisinau with flu symptoms, but the laboratory analysis showed that it was not the new flu virus, the head of the Health Division Mihai Moldovanu said at the Chisinau City Hall’s meeting on Monday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The child is now well. For additional analyses, blood samples were sent to a specialized laboratory in London, Moldovanu said.
The influenza A (H1N1) virus got close to Moldova’s border. A child and two adults got sick with swine flu in Romania. 13,000 cases of H1N1 swine flu and 100 deaths were reported worldwide. A Moldovan women aged 39, who now lives in Cyprus, was diagnosed with swine flu after she returned from a trip to the U.S.
