The federations will be allocated funds from the Ministry of Education and Research according to the score accumulated by athletes at the Olympic Games and the World Games. A draft law in this regard was proposed for public consultations, IPN reports.
According to the bill, the Ministry of Education and Research's budget designed for sports activities will be increased from 68% to 73%, of which 85% for results obtained in the Olympic and Paralympic events and 15% for results achieved at non-Olympic events. At the same time, the quota in the form of reserve will be increased from 15% to 20%.
Under the draft law, a guaranteed minimum of the total amount allocated to sports federations for each sports event will be ensured. Thus, 200,000 lei will be allocated to the national sports federation that had participants in the last edition of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, in addition to the 100,000 lei for each participating athlete.
Also, 100,000 lei will be allocated to national sports federations for non-Olympic and non-Paralympic events, which had participants in the last edition of the World Games, in addition to the 50,000 lei for each participating athlete.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research, offering these guarantees will stimulate sports federations, in general, and professional athletes, in particular, to get involved and do performance sports, to participate in sports competitions and qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Games and World Games.
