More than 100 persons announced their intention to take part this year in the third International Sports Festival for Persons with Disabilities “Golden Taurus”. Balti municipality will host the first part of the competition on April 25, while the second part will take place at the Sports Arena in Chisinau municipality on April 27, IPN reports.
According to a communique of the organizers, the festival takes place in the context of the National State Flag and Coats Day that is marked on April 27. It is an international event aimed at promoting sports among the persons with special needs. The program includes a number of sports and cultural activities. The persons with disabilities will compete in eight specially adjusted events.
This year’s competition will bring together athletes from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Moldova, including Transnistria and Gagauzia.
The first festival of the kind was held in 2011, in partnership with the National Society of the Invalids of Moldova. Then the event involved athletes from Belarus, Ukraine, and Moldova. The second festival took place last April and the competition was then joined by sportspersons from Russia too.
