The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat describes the accusations made by MP Veaceslav Ionita on September 12 as mendacious and revengeful. “I say it with overall responsibility that I have no political, juridical, economic or any other kind of connection with the schemes related by the former member of the parliamentary group of the PLDM,” Vlad Filat says in a statement issued to the press, quoted by IPN.
In the meeting of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance, Veaceslav Ionita told the media that he managed to collect evidence of fraudulent schemes involving the use of false loans and offshore areas through which Vlad Filat withdrew money from Banca de Economii. “Today I have documents over a sum of 120 million lei used during the last three months. The sum about which I have information, which is yet insufficient, but can be substantiated in a short period of time, exceeds half a billion lei,” said the MP.
In the response to these accusations given by Vlad Filat, Veaceslav Ionita is called an open agent who promotes the interests of a controversial businessman, who is known as raider No. 1 in the CIS and who is involved in schemes to launder over €18 billion. “I regret it that Ionita allowed being used as a tool in the process of destabilizing the internal situation in Moldova,” stated Vlad Filat.
As regards the accusations made against him, the politician said these are not the first false accusations made against him. “I’m sure that more such insinuations will be made in the immediate period, when I enter the election campaign. I encourage the state institutions to honestly do their duty and express my readiness to offer any support in this respect,” stated Vlad Filat, adding that regardless of the attacks made on him, he will pursue the set objective – to secure the PLDM’s victory in elections so that they can ensure Moldova’s European and democratic future.
