A surprise inspection conducted by the Consumer Protection Agency CPA at four filling stations in Floresti district confirmed complaints from consumers about practices of under-dispensing of products by the marketers, CPA said in a press release.

The inspection showed that the dispensing errors at the four filling stations, located in the villages of Unchitesti, Marculesti, Prodanesti and Ghindesti, exceeded by two times the allowed limit in the case of liquified gas and by six times in the case of gasoline and diesel fuel.

Further, some marketed products didn't have certificates of conformity and papers showing their origin. Additionally, consumers were misinformed about the name of the marketers, as the inscriptions on the signboards didn't match the name indicated in the papers.

The Agency issued cease-and-desists ordering the culprit stations to suspend the use of their metering equipment.

The culprit owner faces a fine of 232,000 lei.

Whenever suspicions arise about the amounts dispensed, consumers are advised to request the filling station's operator to immediately verify the dispensing equipment. Should the difference be negative, the operator is required to compensate the consumer and repair the dispenser. The Agency can be contacted for complaints at the free-toll numbers 022 74-14-64 and 0 800 280 28.
