Final vote on bill to empower SIS to initiate withdrawal of citizenship

The draft law that empowers the Security and Intelligence Service to analyze the opportunity to withdraw citizenship from subjects of international restrictions was given a final reading by Parliament, IPN reports.

According to the bill, in the case of subjects of international restrictions, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, the SIS will consider the opportunity of withdrawing citizenship and, where appropriate, will notify the Public Services Agency in order to initiate the procedure of withdrawing the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova.

Also, the authors proposed including the State Tax Service and the Public Services Agency in the list of authorities to which the SIS will submit the order regarding the approval or modification of the list of persons associated with subjects of international restrictions.

Another provision of the draft law refers to the granting of additional powers to the SIS which, with the informational support of the Office for the Prevention and Fight against Money Laundering, will compile and approve the list of legal entities about which there is documented information on the fact that they are under the control of a subject of restrictions or have a subject of restrictions as the beneficial owner.
