The Ministry of Finance has revised down the economic growth forecast for this year, from 3.5% to 2.6%, Finance Minister Petru Rotaru announced  in the talk show “Reality concerns you”, IPN reports.

According to the minister, in 2023 there was practically no growth in the Gross Domestic Product. An increase of 2.6% was planned, but the growth was of only 0.7%. An economic growth of 3.5% was projected for this year, but the forecast was revised down to 2.6%.

Petru Rotaru noted that there is no “investment appetite” even if efforts have been made in the public sector, the monetary policy has been relaxed and interest rates on loans were decreased. The tax and customs administration were optimised.

The minister also said that the war in Ukraine prevents investors from coming. Even if they have resources, they are waiting for things to go better.
