The Audiovisual Council penalized 17 TV stations for noncompliance with the provisions regarding local audiovisual programs. The 33 fines total over half a million lei, IPN reports.
The inspection was carried out in December and covered 37 media services providers. It showed that seven TV stations did not respect the quota of local product, four did not comply with the quota of the amount transmitted in the Romanian language, seven did not comply with the quota of product broadcast during prime time, while 15 TV channels did not have enough programs in the first broadcast schedule.
As a result, the Audiovisual Council imposed fines in the total amount of 544,000 lei.
