The first case of death associated with flu was reported in the municipality of Balti. The victim is a woman aged 54. An investigation ordered by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection showed the woman treated herself by self-medication at home and went to the hospital with complications in a week of the first symptoms, IPN reports.
Lab tests confirmed the made diagnosis - A(H1N1) flu and bilateral pneumonia. The Ministry warns the population to immediately see a doctor when symptoms of disease appear. The patients should be isolated at home and hospitalized, if necessary. Those who are exposed to the risk of infection, pregnant women, immunocompromised persons, those with cardiovascular and chronic respiratory system diseases and diabetes and those who are obese should avoid contact with sick persons.
Doctors recommend the persons who look after infected persons to wear protection masks. Those who had been in contact with an infected person or objects infected by these should wash the hands with water and soap or with disinfectants.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, ten cases of flu were recorded in Moldova during October 1 – December 16, 2018.
