A seven-month-old child from Glodeni was hospitalized with measles in Balti. This is the first case of measles in Moldova in the last four years, IPN reports.
According to Mihai Moldovanu, head of the Chisinau Health Division, the child wasn’t vaccinated and most probably got infected in Ukraine, where he travelled together with his mother. The state of health of the child is satisfactory.
The last cases of measles in Moldova were logged in 2013-2014, when, as a result of the import of measles from Russia, about 30 cases among unvaccinated persons were recorded in the districts of Nisporeni, Calarasi and Soroca.
No case of measles was reported in Moldova in 2015-2016.
The rate of primary vaccination of children in Moldova declined from 94.4% in 2008 to 88.3% in 2015.
