The first meeting of the Chișinău City Council lasted more than seven hours. The councilors received their IDs of local officials, they formed the groups within the CMC and formed the profile committees. After several discussions and breaks, it was decided that three committees would have 11 members each, while other two committees will have nine members each. In order to set up the committees, the principle of the proportional distribution of local elected members was used.
The CMC regulation stipulates that the nomination of members to committees is done by the groups, while other councilors, either independent or elected on party lists, but without a group, are nominated by the CMC, which considers their professional training and committee profile .
The Şor Party, which has two councilors on the CMC, insufficient to create a group, requested their representative to be delegated to the Committee on Budget, Economy, Finance, Local Public Heritage, Agriculture and Suburban Issues, which was already filled by group representatives. Although the Socialists were ready to give up a seat in that committee to the Șor Party representative, the PAS and ACUM Platform DA groups insisted on complying with CMC regulation and the principle of proportionality.
Finally, it was decided that a Șor Party councilor would join the Legal Committee, for public order and activity of local public administration, while the other representative would join, as requested, the Committee for Construction, Architecture and Land Relations. The next CMC meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, November 20.
