A man aged 21 fell under the thin ice on Ghidighici lake in Vatra town while he was fishing. Rescuers of rescue station No. 4 saved the man, IPN reports.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the young man was taken out of the cold water and handed over to ambulance doctors who came to provide the necessary medical assistance. He is now out of danger.

Specialists of the Inspectorate warn against walking on ice or fishing on ice when this is less than 8-10 cm thick as this is not safe. For the ice not to pose a danger, the temperatures during more consecutive days should be below 0.

Special attention should be devoted to children, primarily during the winter vacation. The grownups are asked to strictly supervise minors and not to allow them to go near ponds and lakes or to walk on ice. In emergencies, one can call the 112 Service.
