Five suspects arrested in attack on police patrol case

Two more people suspected of attacking a squad of the National Patrol Inspectorate (INP) on August 3, in Baurci village, Ceadir-Lunga district, have been arrested. There are now five people held in custody by the Comrat Police Inspectorate in this case.

Platoon commander of the INP's Southern Patrol Battalion Alexei Costiuc told IPN that the suspects are aged between 26 and 35 and arrest warrants of 20 and 30 days have been issued against them. Four are from Baurci village and one from Taraclia district. Two suspects have been arrested over the last week during joint operations of the Ceadir-Lunga Police Inspectorate and the National Patrol Inspectorate.

On August 3, a mobile team of INP was attacked by a group of unknown persons in Baurci village, Ceadir-Lunga district. Two patrol police officers were hit with clubs and stones, as their car was hijacked and set on fire on the outskirts of the village.
