Members of the organization for protection of animals ALGA brought several stray dogs outside the City Hall, demanding the authorities to build a shelter for them, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Head of the association Valentina Dudnic declared that authorities had promised a shelter, but didn’t keep their promise. According to her, there are many injured dogs on the streets that can’t walk and need care.
The protesters outside the City Hall distributed flyers to the passersby and urged them not to kill the dogs, but to sterilize them. According to them, sterilization would reduce the number of stray dogs. The animals won’t gather in packs and the risk of attacks on humans will decrease.
At the end of last week, several inhabitants of Botanica sector protested outside the City Hall after they found dead dogs on the streets. They brought three bodies and left them in front of the City Hall building, claiming that the animals had been poisoned by the Municipality.
The Mayor of the capital Dorin Chirtoaca declared that the Municipality had requested funds to build the shelter and not protests that would change nothing.
