Locations throughout Moldova, mainly in the districts of Rascani, Falesti, Glodeni, Ungheni, Nisporeni, Leova, Cantemir and Cahul are still at risk of being flooded, Liliana Puscasu of the Civil Protection Dept told Info-Prim Neo.
Villagers from several communities in Falesti, Rascani and Glodeni have been already displaced to prevent casualties. Starting at 17:00 people are being evacuated from Cotul-Morii village and from some communities in Hancesti district.
At Stanca-Costeti dam, the discharge of water is 1,000m3/sec, which means a range of settlements will be affected, because the dam was designed for a maximum discharge of 950m3/sec. A Moldo-Romanian commission supervising the situation on the scene has decided to open an additional valve to avoid a dam failure, so water flow is expected to grow even more.
Flood threats are still hovering over some settlements located on the Nistru in the districts of Anenii-Noi, Causeni and Stefan-Voda.
No casualties have been reported so far in Moldova.
