The designing Institute “Chisinau-proiect” has proposed the City Council a project to revamp the Valea Morilor (Mills Valley) Park. The cost of the project, which includes among other attractions a floating hotel and restaurant, could amount to €280, and the municipal administration hopes it could find investors interested in this project, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Before constructions could start in the area, the pond must be cleared of mud first and refilled with water. Besides the floating hotel and restaurant, the park will also have a sports venue, an amusement center and a mall. “The summer theater will be reconstructed as well, and in its vicinity there will be a multi-storey car park and a Japanese alley”, said Chisinau's chief architect Vlad Modarca. Lifeguard, boating and fishing facilities will be lining the beach, according the project.
Three years ago the central authorities decided to start works on clearing the Valea Morilor pond of mud, without providing financing and in the absence of any project whatsoever. The water was removed but later works were suspended and the area became a mud pool in the heart of the capital city.
“The aim of the project proposed by Chisinau-proiect is to rehabilitate the Valea Morilor zone, with recreation services specific to a large city”, said Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu. “We need to attract private investment, because the City Hall doesn't have the money required for the project”.
