A number of young people Wednesday gathered together near the monument to Stephan the Great in central Chisinau with flowers and candles in order to render homage to the ruler and hold a discussion about patriotism and love for the country and nation. The event formed part of the social campaign “I Love Moldova” that was launched by MP Igor Dodon, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We came here to promote the national values. We rendered homage to Ruler Stephan the Great without a special occasion. We only wanted to show that we love our country,” said participant in the event Anastasia.
Another young woman, Cristina said she joined in because she loves her country and is proud of it and wants more people to have the same feelings. She said that the event was part of a series of activities themed “Let’s Know our Nation”.
“We live in a wonderful country, with many beautiful places and with personalities of whom we are proud,” said Iuliana. She added that more such events will be organized as they want to make the people care about the country’s patrimony.
The young people were accompanied by a group of instrumentalists of the Children’s Center ARTICO. The children played the flute, laid flowers and lit candles at the monument. Some of the young people distributed ‘butterflies’ with the slogan “I Love Moldova” on them to passersby.
Most of the passersby welcomed the event, but some of the persons said it was political in character.
The social campaign “I Love Moldova” was launched by unaffiliated MP Igor Dodon together with young people who are members of a youth organization in April.
