The flu vaccination campaign for the 2024-2025 flu season has begun. The authorities purchased a batch of 200,000 doses of Influvac Tetra flu vaccine, IPN reports.

According to the National Public Health Agency, flu vaccination is recommended for categories at high risk of infection, such as adults and children with chronic diseases, pregnant women, children in orphanages and other units, elderly people in nursing homes.

Influenza immunization is also recommended for groups at risk of occupational diseases, such as medical workers, students and residents of “N. Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, students of medical colleges, staff of social insurance institutions, placement centers, orphanages, children’s homes and sanatoriums.

As during the previous flu season, simultaneous vaccination against influenza and COVID-19 is recommended.

Specialists specify that seroprotection is obtained during two to three weeks after vaccination, and post-vaccination immunity lasts for six to 12 months.

“It is essential that the population also takes personal hygiene measures, such as washing hands with soap and water, using handkerchiefs when sneezing or coughing and leading a healthy lifestyle, which includes a diet rich in vegetables and fruit, adequate rest and systematic movement. These measures are essential for the prevention of illnesses through acute viral infections of the respiratory tract, especially influenza,” reads the Agency’s press release.
