Foreign citizens will be expelled more seldom

The foreigners who will carry out religious activities in public places in Moldova without announcing the mayors' offices of the given settlements beforehand will not be expelled. At a plenary sitting on Thursday, the MPs voted for excluding this provision from the Code of Administrative Offenses as it ran counter to the European Convention on Human Rights, Info-Prim Neo reports. Deputy Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim said the expulsion is excessive and not in accordance with with the European standards. The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe recommended excluding the given measure from the legislation in the ECHR's decision on the Bessarabian Metropolitan Church and others versus Moldova passed on January 9, 2009.
