The Ministry of Environment proposed the draft plan of action for implementing the national forest sector sustainable development strategy for 2017-2020 for public debates, IPN reports.

The plan includes 65 measures aimed at improving policies typical of the sector and the framework that regulates activity in the financial-forest sector, at expanding wooded areas and sustainably developing forest resources, etc.

The plan will be implemented at a cost of 785.5 million lei or an annual average of 196.4 million lei. The largest part of the investment will go to implement the strategy for institutionally reforming the forest sector (60.5% of all the costs) and the program for ecologically restoring 10,000 hectares of degraded woods (29.8%).

The Ministry said the money invested in the conservation and amelioration of different wooded areas represents investment in attenuating climate change and contribution to solving the socioeconomic problems faced by the population in rural areas.
