Former acting head of Securities Depository gets 5 years in prison

A former head of the National Securities Depository was sentenced to 5 years in prison for abusing his position in personal interests as well as for forging documents, the General Prosecutor's Office reported. In 2010, the offender ignored an interdiction imposed by court and facilitated the transfer of securities from one owner to another, by which he contributed to the dispossession of the former of shares estimated at over 1 million lei. The man was also found guilty of misinterpreting the regulations of the National Securities Depository to issue an inaccurate statement for a deposit account. The sentence is appealable.
