“The situation of the 1990s repeats. Look what's happening today in Moldova: murders, robberies, explosions. This is explained by the fact that no effort is made to prevent the criminal element,” ex-police commissioner of Chisinau Vladimir Botnari said on September 13, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “Preventive measures should be taken every day. Every criminal must be asked what they are doing and why they are not working for the state, but robbing the people,” Vladimir Botnari said. According to the former commissioner, the legal system is to blame for the criminal situation in the country. He stated there are no competent persons that will manage this system and make it functional. “I do not refer to Minister of the Interior Victor Catan, who can do nothing by himself, but to everyone,” he said. A new hearing in the case of the April 2009 events was to start at 10am today, but it was postponed to 2pm as not all the summoned witnesses came.
