Officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with employees of the Hancesti Prosecutor’s Office, carried out searches at the homes, the office and the personal car of a former civil servant of the Hancesti Police Inspectorate. The man is investigated for influence peddling, IPN reports, with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The suspect, working as a senior sector officer of the Hancesti Police Inspectorate, claiming that he has influence over public figures of other subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs‘ General Police Inspectorate and other law enforcement agencies, personally received €3,500 in exchange for the promise to obtain a favorable decision in a drunk driving case.
During the searches, evidence related to the case was found and seized. The suspect was detained and is cooperating with the criminal investigation body. If he is found guilty, he will be fineed 100,000 to 150,000 lei or will be given a jail term of up to five years.
