The former managers of the Mărculești Airport are investigated for appropriation at the airport, for tax evasion and money laundering. The damage caused to the enterprise and to the state budget was estimated at over 10 million lei, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, the illegalities were committed in 2012-2018. A part of the companies that provided services for the airport were affiliated with decision makers of the enterprise. For the illegalities not to be discovered, another member of the administration from offices of employees stole important documents that could not be archived and could not be this way examined by investigators.
In the morning of April 1, searches were carried out at a number of addresses in Chisinau and Bălți, involving former functionaries of the enterprise.
