The Buiucani District Court of Chisinau issued arrest warrants for a period of 30 days against the four persons who were preliminarily arrested and accused of carrying out a scheme to appropriate money from Banca de Economii (BEM), IPN reports, quoting the National Anticorruption Center.

Among the four is the Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat’s brother-in-law and the son of this. One of these is the founder of the firm Caravita, while the other one is its manager. The company is suspected of involvement in the banking fraud.

The other two persons are the company’s accountant and another manager of Caravita.

The four persons were remanded in the custody of the National Anticorruption Center.

On July 15, anticorruption prosecutors and officers carried out searches at the company’s head office and seized a number of documents found there. Those arrested are suspected of using a scheme to take out loans from BEM, which weren’t actually paid back.
