Fourteen persons hurt in road accidents over weekend

Fourteen persons received injuries in 11 traffic accidents in Moldova on Saturday and Sunday. Paulina Iakimovski, of the Traffic Police Division's PR department, has told Info-Prim Neo that three of the road accidents were caused by motorcyclists. A minor aged 17 from Cahul suffered serous injuries when the motorcycle he was riding overturned as he was speeding. A 19-year-old man crashed his motorcycle into into a Mazda, which was turning on a street in Causeni. The man got his left femur fractured, while the passenger different contusions. A drunk man ran his motorcycle into a parked vehicle in Sangerei town. He and his female passenger were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The 66-year-old driver of a Volkswagen-Golf fell asleep at the steering wheel near Ocnita town and crashed his car into a Mercedes-208 parked by the roadside. The driver was hospitalized with a cranial-cerebral trauma and concussion. Two inebriated pedestrians from Sangerei aged 36 and 32 were struck by a KAMAZ driven by a young man without a license. They were taken to the hospital with multiple injuries. A drunk 38-year-old man from Balabanesti village crashed his car into a tree. He was taken to the Chisinau Emergency Hospital with serious injuries. The 368 road accidents that happened in Moldova this year resulted in 47 deaths and 500 persons injured.
